National Mentoring Month Website Launched
Nationalmentoringmonth.org, the new, one-stop shop for all things related t=
o January's National Mentoring Month (NMM), launched this month. The site i=
s designed to give anyone interested in expanding the power of mentoring an=
 easy way to learn more about and join in NMM activities. General Colin L. =
Powell is headlining the Eighth Annual National Mentoring Month volunteer r=
ecruitment drive. Held each January, the campaign mobilizes community volun=
teers to help young people achieve their potential. This year's theme is "E=
xpand Your Universe. Mentor a Child." The website offers two television PSA=
s created for NMM 2009, one featuring General Powell, as well as a new radi=
o PSA. Users can view and order the printed NMM materials, including poster=
s, thank-you notes and bookmarks, which display the NMM 2009 graphics and t=
heme. In addition, the site lists all local partners, including Mentoring P=
artnerships, which signed on to be the lead NMM promoters in their states. =
Nationalmentoringmonth.org offers 10 ideas for getting involved with mentor=
ing this January, how to take action, a search option to find mentoring pro=
grams by zip code, a brief history of NMM and news and events about NMM act=
