Hi friends, I sent this e-mail to Julie today, while I don't have any ment=
al health experience, I have seen some positive feedback with regard to emp=
owering young people in a group setting. In my school program, I have a w=
riting game that is really fun and everyone can participate. Have everyone=
in the group write their names on a piece of paper. Give them maybe 10 mi=
nutes to write something--anything. It can be original material, a poem, r=
ap lyics, spoken word, or a joke, a story, whatever, then draw 2 names and =
each will read what they wrote and the audience will vote, by applause whic=
h piece they though was better. It's like a rap battle, only with creative=
writing. You can have numerous rounds and the final student standing get =
a championship prize (i.e. pizza at their favorite restaurant, vidio game, =
DVD etc...) It forces them to think about what they are writing, improving,=
competing and being judged by their peers as to the merit of their content=
. Also, having to stand before an audience encourages public speaking. I =
usually do this during my presentation. Try it out and see if you don't ge=
t some interesting thoughts.Janice BrownLicensed Real Estate BrokerPark Ter=
