Greetings, all -
I thought some of you might know of young people who would be interested in
this opportunity I found on the What Kids Can Do web site:
Subject: Crisis and Hope Young people today are living through a time of
economic and world crisis. But crisis also gives birth to hope and
opportunity. As Graduation Day approaches, WKCD invites students across the
country--age 12 to 19--to raise their voice and let others know what matters
most to them, in this moment and in the years ahead.
Students do not need to be an actual graduation speaker to submit their
speech--we're looking for speeches students would LIKE to give.
The speech must be 300 - 600 words long and address the theme, "Crisis and
hope in these trying times." There will be five winners ($100 gift
certificate from Amazon.com). Winning speeches along with honorable mentions
will appear on the WKCD website. The deadline for submissions is May 18,
2009. Winners will be announced in early June.
Please help us spread the word to as many students as possible!
Best wishes,
