FRIENDS National Resource Center for Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention
recently announced that the following courses have been added to the FRIENDS
Online Learning Center:</span></font></p>

Verdana'>Protective Factors: Strengthening Families and Preventing Child Abuse
and Neglect</span></font></i></em><font size=2 face=Verdana><span
style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana'><br>
This training was developed for those interested in learning how protective
factors can be used to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.
The course will illustrate the difference between focusing on risk factors and
using protective factors in child maltreatment prevention, review the five
protective factors that research has shown to reduce the risks of child abuse
and neglect, and identify strategies that can be used to partner more
effectively with families and promote protective factors. </span></font></p>
<p><em><i><font size=2 face=Verdana><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:
Verdana'>Continuous Quality Improvement</span></font></i></em><font size=2
face=Verdana><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Verdana'><br>
For any program to provide the best possible services to children and families,
Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities must be intentionally
integrated into all aspects of service planning and delivery. This training
will build on what you already know about CQI and what you are doing towards
creating a CQI environment in your agency. It will also help you identify the
elements needed to develop and maintain Continuous Quality Improvement in
family support and child abuse prevention programs.<br>
